KARACHI: Following its first flight on Monday (today), the New Gwadar International Airport, a crucial component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has finally been put into service.
Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif, and other officials greeted Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft PK-503 upon its arrival at the new airport at 11:14 a.m.
The ATR that was used for the airport’s inaugural flight was also given a water salute when it touched down.
