Pete Davidson is being open about a humiliating experience he had while high on ketamine and attending the funeral of iconic diva Aretha Franklin.
The comic recounted the story in the Netflix special Turbo Fonzarelli, saying, “It’s awkward to stop using ketamine, but…” I feel ashamed. In that sense, I was on the go. You realize that’s not cool?”
The former star of Saturday Night Live claimed to have been using ketamine for “the past two and a half, three years” and to have attended Aretha Franklin’s funeral “like that” while high. Yes, I have to put things behind me. Do you understand what I mean? It doesn’t really matter that she won’t know, though.”
“Hey, what’s your name?” And why in the world are you attending my funeral?
It’s awkward. I decided to approach her family and say, “Hey, I’m just here to pay my R-E-S-P-E-C-T…” because I was feeling so high.”
Aretha’s final ceremony took place in Detroit, Michigan, in August of 2018. Cause of death: pancreatic cancer. She was seventy-six.
