Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Babar Saleem Swati was elected as KP Assembly speaker with 89 votes out of a total of 106, while his opponent received 17 votes. Babar Saleem Swati was sworn in as Speaker of the KP Assembly.
The Sunni Ittehad Council members praised the newly elected speaker of the provincial assembly.
Suriya Bibi was elected as the deputy speaker of the KP Assembly and swore an oath.
The KP Assembly session has been adjourned until Friday 10 a.m.
