The makers of Hugh Grant’s most recent film, Heretic, have voiced their opposition to the usage of generative AI in cinema.
“No generative AI was used in the making of this film,” Scott Beck and Bryan Woods said in the credits of their film Heretic.
“We have no illusions that when people watch ‘Heretic,’ they’re going to go, ‘Wait, did they use generative AI?'” Woods told Variety about the message. Even though it doesn’t seem that way, we felt it was necessary to share it because we believe that people should start discussing it.
For background, popular films like Alien: Romulus and Furiosa have made use of generative AI.
