ISLAMABAD: Both the ruling and major opposition parties have denied that they have a preferred jurist among the three judges who will be chosen to serve as chief justices.
This was stated on Monday in the news talk show “Capital Talk” by both opposition and government leaders.
The coalition government has begun the process of selecting a new top court judge in anticipation of the retirement of incumbent Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa on October 25. This is because the 26th Constitutional Amendment requires that the top judicial position be filled three days prior to the incumbent’s retirement.
It would be incorrect to claim that the administration has a favorite among the three senior most supreme officials, according to Defense Minister Khawaja Asif.
