Beijing said Tuesday that a crew of three astronauts, including China’s only female spaceflight engineer, will launch on a “dream” trip to the Tiangong space station this week.
With an eye toward the space program’s ambitious aim of putting humans on the moon by 2030 and eventually building a lunar base, the new Tiangong crew will conduct experiments.
According to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), the Shenzhou-19 mission and its three space explorers are set to launch from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 4:27 a.m. on Wednesday (2027 GMT Tuesday).
