Hunter Biden’s first son’s criminal trial began in earnest on Tuesday, with opening statements followed by the first witness in the case—an FBI special agent.
For over seven hours on Tuesday, the jury was presented with testimony and opening statements. The first point made by Biden’s defense team was that he bought a Cobra Colt.38 revolver in October 2018 in a hurry, following the advice of salespeople at Wilmington’s StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply. In his introductory remarks, Lowell went on to say that the gun Biden bought was a “small gun” that he never fired in the 11 days he owned it.
prosecutors contended that “no one is above the law,” telling the jury as much.
Evidence proving Biden was a crack cocaine addict who lied on a federal gun form to obtain the pistol will be shown during the trial.
On Tuesday, prosecutors played clips from Biden’s audiobook, which he narrates, while Biden’s 2021 memoir “Beautiful Things” took center stage. The excerpts included anecdotes about how he became friends with a female drug dealer he called “Bicycles” and she sold him crack cocaine on the streets of Washington, D.C. His spiraling addiction caused him to become a “crack daddy” to dealers, and he also told how he stole cocaine in a Monte Carlo hotel bathroom from an unknown person.
