After Sofia Patel, the party’s chief of operations, announced on LinkedIn that she was organizing almost 100 party leaders, both current and past, to campaign in battleground states, the Trump campaign accused Labour of unlawful meddling this week.
Deborah Mattinson, who also collaborated with Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and Neil Kinnock, told Beth Rigby on the Electoral Dysfunction podcast that the centrist Democratic think tank Progressive Policy Institute wanted her to travel to the United States in September to speak to Democrats about Labour’s campaign.
When she traveled to the United States, she had already completed her employment with the Labour Party.
Before the Trump campaign filed a complaint with the US Federal Election Commission alleging “interference” in the “form of apparent illegal foreign national contributions made by the Labour Party of the UK,” Ms. Mattinson was speaking on Tuesday.
According to reports, Kamala Harris has been receiving counsel from Labour strategists “about how to earn back disaffected voters and run a winning campaign from the center left.”
