RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday that up to 19 prisoners had their sentences revoked following a request for mercy.
The military’s propaganda wing stated that 19 convicts’ appeals were approved only on humanitarian grounds, in accordance with the law, while 67 inmates submitted mercy petitions, 48 of which were examined by the Courts of Appeal.
The ISPR stated that the 19 people whose appeals have been granted will be released after the formalities have been completed and that the other mercy requests will be resolved after the legal process.
