A letter from more than 60 members of the US House of Representatives imploring President Joe Biden to step in and help Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan and the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has been confirmed by the White House.
At a news briefing in Washington, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller confirmed receipt of the letter and said the administration will reply when it was ready.
Miller underlined the US government’s dedication to a thriving democracy in Pakistan, stressing that every individual has the inherent right to exercise their fundamental liberties and take part in democratic processes.
