Enforcing a smartphone ban on youngsters would be challenging, according to a Brighton man who hasn’t used a smartphone in six years.
Luke Young said, “I think the difficulty is that if they do ban it and treat it like a substance, then I think a lot of people will use it secretly.” Luke Young entirely stopped using social media at the age of 18.
In a study done for Parentkind, 58% of parents thought that the government should forbid children under 16 from having smartphones.
A government spokesperson said: “Technology has enormous social and educational benefits, but children’s safety should not suffer as a result.”
