British High Commissioner Jane Marriott met with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, as well as Clara Strandhoj, Head of the British High Commission’s Lahore Office.
During the meeting, Jane Marriott congratulated Maryam Nawaz Sharif on her historic appointment as the first female Chief Minister and best wishes for her tenure. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the British High Commissioner for her wishes.
The discussions centered on raising scholarships for Punjab students attending top British colleges and supporting girls’ education. The exchange of technology for monitoring air quality indexes to combat climate change and pollution was also mentioned.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif presented her ideas for government and openness, including the Digital Punjab program. The British High Commissioner commended the Digital Punjab vision and Maryam Nawaz Sharif.She also promised British institutions of all available facilities for establishing an IT university and informed them about the IT Park initiative in Punjab, particularly in Lahore. Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the IT Twin Towers project will begin in Lahore very soon.
