Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, unveiled a significant plan to install 10,000 EV charging stations throughout Pakistan by 2030.
This ambitious initiative seeks to encourage sustainable mobility, lower carbon emissions, and lessen reliance on petroleum imports.
Hussain noted that 31 businesses have expressed interest in investing in Pakistan’s EV industry, with two already having been granted licenses to produce electric vehicles, at a press conference held at an expo hosted by the Engineering Development Board.
He reiterated that the government would promote the EV business and that a second EV policy would be introduced by the end of November.
The Punjab government is also attempting to introduce electric two- and three-wheelers and is providing subsidies to promote their use.
