Speaking on behalf of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin offered sincere condolences on Thursday for the loss of Sartaj Aziz, the former foreign minister of Pakistan, praising his exceptional contribution to relations between China and Pakistan.
Aziz, a former finance minister and prime minister’s foreign policy advisor, died on Tuesday in Islamabad.
At a routine press conference, Wang stated, “Mr. Aziz was a seasoned politician, strategist, and economic expert of Pakistan, and an old and good friend of the Chinese people.”
Aziz, according to Wang, was committed to Pakistan’s prosperity, worked assiduously and fervently to advance China-Pakistan ties, and made significant contributions to amicable cooperation between the two countries, including the establishment and building of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
“We offer our sincere sympathies for Mr. Aziz’s loss.
