China has begun an anti-dumping investigation into imports of a commonly used plastic from the United States, the European Union, Taiwan, and Japan.
The Ministry of Commerce’s announcement that imports of polyoxymethylene copolymer, which is used in electronics and automobiles, will increase indicates that China will respond to its trade issues with the United States and Europe.
The declaration comes as China’s trade disputes with the United States and the European Union have escalated in recent months.
Less than a week ago, Washington substantially hiked taxes on Chinese commodities such as electric vehicles (EVs), solar panels, and computer chips.
The new US steps also extended on the broad border levies levied on Chinese imports by the Trump administration.
