Day two of the weather-affected first Test in Bengaluru saw India knocked out for their lowest-ever home total of 46, which was rallied by opener Devon Conway to lead New Zealand to an 82-1 victory.
The hosts chose to bat in the cloudy conditions, but fast bowlers Matt Henry and William O’Rourke combined to dismiss India in 31.2 overs during the second session. It rained on the first day of the Test.
That was the third-lowest Test result ever for India. In 1987, they were reduced to 75 at home against the West Indies in New Delhi.
In a 2020 pink-ball Adelaide Test match against Australia, their lowest score to date was 36. In their 1974 Lord’s match versus England, they lost 42–1.
