Dave Bautista definitely wants a role in superhero films, but it must be substantial, as opposed to his previous position as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, which he described as “silly.”
In an interview with Gizmodo, the former WWE star stated, “When I said that I was done, I was really just done with my journey as Drax.”
“I still have a relationship with Marvel.” I saw Kevin Feige and Lou [D’Esposito] just two weeks ago. And they know I’d be interested in a position.”
He went on to say, “I adore the universe—the superhero universe. I’m a fan. So, if Marvel or DC calls, I’ll answer the phone.
Dave explained his decision, saying, “I just want the opportunity to do a bigger, different role.”
“Perhaps a deeper role. I would love to play a scary villain in the heroic realm. I’m not finished with it. But my trip with Drax is done.”
Dave previously referred to his character Drax as “silly” after expressing discontent with the part.
“It wasn’t all that pleasant,” he told GQ. “It was difficult portraying that part. I was exhausted by the makeup application process. And I’m not sure if I want Drax to be my legacy; it’s a goofy performance, and I’d rather do more dramatic work.”
