In the 1980s and 1990s, he voiced Master Splinter in the first run of the well-liked animated series.
Townsend Coleman, a friend and co-star who played Michealangelo in the show, posted a statement on social media announcing Renaday’s passing, saying, “I will miss him dearly.”
According to reports, Renaday passed away on Sunday at his Burbank, California home from what appeared to be natural causes.
Renaday, who was born in Louisiana in 1935, had a phenomenally successful career spanning over six decades, appearing in about 200 TV series and movies.
In the 1970s and 1980s, he provided voices for a number of Disney cartoon characters, including The Aristocrats.
Among his television credits are Batman: The Animated Series, Alvin & The Chipmunks, The Transformers, The Real Ghostbusters, and Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo.
He was well-known for providing the voice of Abraham Lincoln, the animatronic, in the Hall of Presidents at Walt Disney World.
From 1987 until1996, Renaday provided the voice of Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The 70-year-old said he had “the privilege of visiting him a month ago, and he was as vibrant as ever,” referring to Renaday as “one of the most genuine, salt-of-the-earth people I have ever known.”
