Beginning on October 16, Pakistanis should prepare for sharp rises in fuel prices, which might reach as high as Rs10.25 per liter for high-speed diesel (HSD).
On October 15, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) will present a proposal to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) that is expected to include increases in the prices of gasoline (rs3.95), kerosene (rs7.85), and light diesel oil (rs8.33) per liter (LDO).
To improve oil company and gas station revenues, this proposal calls for an increase of Rs2.75 per liter, bringing their margins to Rs9.22 and Rs10.04 per liter, respectively.
The Finance Ministry will release the final pricing following OGRA evaluation and government approval. It is possible that this could result in an increase in petrol to Rs250.98, HSD to Rs256.54, kerosene to Rs162.75, and LDO to Rs149.23 per litre.
