Owen Beierman may have saved his father’s life when he sprang into action and killed the animal with his weapon.
Owen was a courageous individual. Ryan Beierman, 43, told the Minnesota Star Tribune, “he shot that bear and killed it on top of me.”
On September 6, the two had sighted the 90 kg (14 kg) beast in the woods near Siren, Wisconsin; Owen had shot and wounded it approximately 90 miles northeast of Minneapolis.
According to Mr. Beierman, they used a tracking dog to attempt to locate the animal after waiting for around twenty minutes.
“When we heard the news, we were kind of stuck in a thicket.
I entered a semi-clearing at that same moment. “There he is, Owen,” I said.
Mr. Beierman fired a salvo of rounds from his handgun, but none of them found the target as the bear charged at close range.
He said, “I was flat on my back before I knew it.”
It was as if I was hitting a brick wall as I began pistol-whipping him. I attempted to strike him between the mouth and ear with the pistol’s rough edge.
