The International Airlines Group (IAG) reported that its operational profit for the first three months of 2023 was €68 million (£58.5 million), above forecasts and up from €9 million (£7.7 million) in 2023.
The business, which also owns Vueling, Iberia, and Aer Lingus, reported that robust demand—particularly during the Easter holidays—had caused earnings to rise.
According to the report, cheaper pricing and “more efficient” aircraft deliveries have resulted in a nearly 5% decrease in fuel expenses when compared to the same period last year.
According to IAG, ticket sales for flights between British Airways (BA) and its sister carriers have noticeably increased.
The group’s airlines have already secured over 80% of the expected bookings for the second quarter and over 40% for the third, according to Chief Executive Luis Gallego.
