An investigation into the penalty Lando Norris received for disregarding yellow flags during the Qatar Grand Prix has been demanded by McLaren.
According to team principal Andrea Stella, Norris was given a 10-second stop-and-go penalty, which is the harshest punishment that can be given aside from disqualification, but it “lacked any specificity and proportion.”
Due to the ruling, Norris fell from second place to tenth place after a fierce battle with eventual victor and leader Max Verstappen.
Additionally, McLaren’s lead over Ferrari was reduced to 21 points, whereas they would have just needed a few more points at the season’s final race in Abu Dhabi the following weekend to win the manufacturers’ championship.
