GUJRANWALA: Ambassador to Greece Aamar Aftab Qureshi has disclosed the circumstances of the Greek boat catastrophe, stating that over 80 Pakistanis, including children, were on board the unlucky boats that capsized on Saturday close to the European nation.
The unfortunate boats carrying Pakistani citizens were overloaded and sunk after their hulls cracked, Qureshi revealed during a press briefing.
“The rescue effort is in progress. The envoy emphasized that scores of Pakistanis who were traveling illegally from Libya on several boats are still missing, adding that “the prospects of survival of those missing are low.”
At least five migrants drowned after their wooden boat sank near Greek islands, and the envoy’s comments coincide with officials confirming the deaths of five Pakistani people.
