Natalie A. Baker is now the deputy head of mission at the US Embassy in Islamabad, marking a shift in the composition of the US diplomatic staff in Pakistan.
In addition to having a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, Baker has experience as the Director of the Office of North African Affairs in the US Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. In 2017, Baker was named a Distinguished Graduate of the National War College at the National Defense University of the US.
She was employed at the US Embassy in Doha, Qatar, as the deputy head of mission before her most recent posting.
She has held a number of positions in the diplomatic service, including Special Assistant in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Consular Officer in Islamabad, and Cultural Officer in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
