ISLAMABAD According to The News, K-Electric (KE) has received a show-cause notice from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for consistently disregarding instructions on net-metering applications.
The notification was sent out on Wednesday after KE claimed that system overloads prevented it from providing detailed information on denied net-metering applications.
Nepra believes that this is against the Nepra Act and its rules.
The problem arose when several reports claimed that KE had turned down a large number of net-metering requests, blaming Pole-Mounted Transformers (PMTs) and overburdened common distribution networks.
Nepra originally asked KE to provide particular information about these rejections in May 2024, but the electricity provider asked for an extension and didn’t comply with the requirements in time.
