–Joe Burrow, the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, was asked what the “perfect” NFL schedule would entail. He theorized how an 18-game schedule could be possible and even mentioned the possibility of holding the Super Bowl on Presidents’ Day weekend. It remains to be seen if the NFL owners and NFL Players Association would support it.
Burrow stated on Sports’ “Pardon My Take” that “I think it would be cool to have the normal bye week schedule that it is now, have it spread out, but then, like Week 13, do like the Pro Bowl break where you’re doing the 7-on-7 and all the skills challenges like the NBA does.”
It would also give everyone a bye week before the final six games of the season, which is something I believe would increase viewership for the Pro Bowl.
Earlier this year, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell discussed an 18-game schedule. Removing preseason games, according to him, might strengthen that strategy.
day, day, day,On “The Pat McAfee Show,” Goodell stated, “I think we’re good at 17 now.” “Listen, though—we’re examining our course of action. I find the preseason to be uninteresting. The truth is, any day I could substitute a regular-season game for a preseason one. That is merely selecting quality.
