Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has deemed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent trip to China to be a failure.
Rehman, addressing the National Assembly on Wednesday, asserted that the prime minister and the army had failed in their attempts to obtain favorable results from the visit, citing Chinese officials’ concerns regarding Pakistan’s instability and lack of security.
Rehman attacked the government for how it handled the yearly budget, saying that its policies had not failed to damage any industry or income level. “Every government claims the budget is people-friendly and beneficial for the country’s development, but in reality, it fails to protect any sector, salary, class or income group,” he stated.
He questioned the logic of the people paying taxes to a government that he believed was untrustworthy.
“Considering that the World Bank and IMF will utilize the money people make to pay back loans and interest, why should they pay taxes? Rehman said, “People won’t pay taxes to support international organizations.”
Rehman emphasized the fragile situation of the nation’s economy, saying, “The country is on the verge of bankruptcy, notwithstanding the claims of the administration. We have arrived at this stage after 75 years of consecutive governments.”
