The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ridiculed its political adversary, claiming that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) demand for civil disobedience was unsuccessful, while congratulating the country on a record rise in foreign remittances and the first flight to Europe in four years by Pakistan International Airline.
In a statement released on Friday, Punjab senior minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said, “Congratulations to the nation on the morning of prosperity as anarchists’ night comes to an end… overseas Pakistanis have rejected those who called for civil disobedience.”
The announcement was made as the central bank revealed that Pakistan’s remittances in December totaled $3.1 billion, a 29.3% year-over-year rise, underscoring the country’s ongoing financial assistance from Pakistanis living abroad despite difficult economic times.
