The Pakistani government has taken strong action against hoarding, smuggling, and electricity theft by enforcing its zero-tolerance policy.
These actions have been in place since September 1, 2023, and have been made possible by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). As a result, several people have been arrested and billions of rupees have been recovered.
Anti-smuggling measures reportedly resulted in the seizure of 3,249 metric tonnes of illegal fertilizer, and their illicit movement was stopped. 361 metric tons of wheat and flour were seized from smugglers as part of actions to stop the smuggling of necessities.
34,731 metric tonnes of sugar have been seized in the last 11 months, stopping illicit profiting. The seizure of 149,710 rolls of fabric contributed to the control of the illicit textile market.Seven million liters of Iranian oil were seized as a result of the anti-smuggling operations, which contributed to the stabilization of the gasoline market.
