Officials from the Punjab government are keeping details about the opulent cars that were recently acquired for the speaker, deputy speaker, and other assembly members’ offices hidden. Legislators from the opposition claim that the province government spent taxpayer money on five opulent vehicles, totaling Rs180 million.
Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, the finance minister for Punjab, declared on July 25 that these positions will be purchasing luxury cars. At a media briefing, Rehman declared, “The Punjab Assembly is the largest provincial assembly.” “Every speaker at the provincial assembly drives a fancy car, except us.”
Rehman clarified that the automobiles were bought to host delegations and foreign dignitaries visiting Punjab, but he withheld information about the precise make and model of the cars or their overall cost.
