The 60-year-old received an external disease diagnosis earlier this year. There is no known treatment for the uncommon, degenerative illness that affects the brain and nerves.
Former Scotland rugby union front Doddie Weir passed away in November 2022, six years after receiving a diagnosis, while former England and Leeds rugby league player Rob Burrow also died from the illness earlier this year.
Lawrence, who spent 16 years at Gloucestershire taking 625 wickets in 280 matches while playing five Test matches for England, stated in an interview with BBC Breakfast that Burrow has inspired him.

“I got the dreadful news in June that I had the disease which is a tough one,” stated the man.
