ISLAMABAD According to The News, which quoted Privatization Commission officials, six pre-bidding businesses interested in purchasing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) are reluctant to retain the current national flag career employees and have also expressed reservations about tax implications.
Chairman Tallal Badar of the Senate Standing Committee on Privatization made the comments on Thursday at a meeting. He questioned the rationale behind delaying the financial bidding that was originally set to begin on October 1. The new date of the bidding is October 31.
Usman Bajwa, the secretary of the Privatization Commission, told the panel that the aforementioned pre-bidding companies have also asked the government for clarity about the pensions and service of current employees.
The bidding businesses have asked for protection and warranty for the airline’s eighteen aircraft.
