Glasgow-born road and track cyclist Kate Richardson has had a stellar early career, winning junior and national titles around Europe.
With the recent Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix victory under his belt, the 21-year-old was eager for this week’s Tour of Britain.
She did, however, describe how, during a training session, she was hit by a car at “high speed,” breaking her clavicle as it was recovering from an earlier-year injury.
In addition, Richardson said that she had “road rash,” a phrase for friction wounds sustained in bicycle crashes, and significant bruises all over her right hip.
Richardson statedin a social media post in a social media post that the collision “just should have never happened” and that it was “incredibly hard to accept.”.
On Instagram, she stated: “I was on a blind bend on a narrow single-track road that was no wider than three meters, and it was obvious that the vehicle couldn’t wait ten more seconds to pass me.
He made the decision to try and drive his enormous 4×4 past me quickly, which caused him to hit me hard and knock me off my bike.
“Initially, he just drove on but turned around and came back later to verbally abuse and threaten me before getting back in his car and driving off again.”
