Robert Downey Jr. revealed something shocking regarding Cillian Murphy’s part in a Christopher Nolan film.
Robert Downey Jr. offered himself for a legendary part in Batman Begins long before he was cast in Christopher Nolan’s film Oppenheimer.
The American actor recently said during a Q&A at the American Cinematheque theater in Los Angeles that he was considering playing the villain Scarecrow in a 2005 film. However, the role went to his Oppenheimer co-star Cillian Murphy.
“I’m pretty sure I heard about this role and I was like, I’m Scarecrow,” Robert recalled.
He went on, “And then I remember thinking, ‘He doesn’t seem like he’s really in on this interview,'” when they met for tea.
Along with that, the 58-year-old actor said, “He was polite and all that, but you can tell when someone is kind of like, It’s not going anywhere.”
Prior to moving on to the next topic, Cillian Murphy discussed his antagonistic character on the show WTF with Mark Maron. He said, “I did the test, and then he saw something in that and cast me as Scarecrow in Batman Begins, and we continued on making movies.”
