According to the official tally, he was still the top choice for nearly 22% of votes, despite his unique circumstances.
However, he finished third in a race for the council seat in the City of Gold Coast, which he had won with great ease four years prior.
The 31-year-old is accused of killing Robert Lumsden, his stepfather, at the family’s residence in August of last year.
For legal reasons, more information regarding the proceedings cannot be disclosed; however, during a pretrial conference, his attorneys stated that he will enter a not guilty plea.
