The 47-year-old Colombian music sensation talked about her breakup with former football player Gerard Pique, her new album, and the huge movie that came out last summer in an interview with Allure magazine.
While she “to a certain extent” agrees with Shakira’s statement that her two young sons “absolutely hated” the movie, she also claimed that she thought it was “emasculating”.
“I’m raising two boys,” she declared. They should respect women and feel powerful as well, in my opinion.
“I appreciate pop culture when it aims to provide women the capability to protect and provide without depriving men of their ability to be men.
In my opinion, women should be given all the resources and confidence necessary to succeed without compromising who they are as people or their femininity.
Both men and women, in my opinion, serve distinct purposes in society. We should not undervalue the complement that we have for one another.
