The youthful and captivating originator of the anti-abortion organization Live Action had anticipated great things from the Republican contender: a forceful demonstration of anti-abortion convictions and a pledge to enact legislation supporting those convictions.
She was soon let down. Trump criticized Democrats for their “extreme” abortion policy, but he remained silent on a nationwide ban, arguing that the states should handle this matter instead.
And he referred to himself as an IVF “leader,” which put him at odds with Ms. Rose and many other supporters of her campaign who are against the process because it frequently results in the destruction of embryos.
Regarding Trump’s performance, Ms. Rose stated, “It was excruciating to watch.”
The 36-year-old Ms. Rose had long doubted Trump’s anti-abortion credentials due to his years of shifting opinions, including his prior pro-choice declaration, and his willingness to make what she described as “concerning compromises.” However, she had been inspired, along with the majority of her organization, by his first term and the three Trump-appointed justices to the Supreme Court, who went on to reverse Roe v. Wade and abolish the right to an abortion across the country.
