LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has declared smog to be a calamity in Punjab and instructed authorities to take action against any actions that have contributed to the dangerous smog conditions.
The PDMA announced in a statement that any actions that contribute to or cause smog production have been outlawed throughout the province.
All industries operating without emission control systems contributed to the decline of the Air Quality Index, as did all stone crushers operating without wet scrubbers, burning of all solid waste, tires, rubber, and plastics, vehicles emitting visible smoke, pollutants falling into inadmissible limits, and the sale and use of substandard fuels.
