During the 2018 Toronto Film Festival, Scialfa revealed that she had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The documentary, “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band,” is about the musician. The Mayo Clinic defines multiple myeloma as “a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell.”
Scialfa withdrew from the current tour with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, which began in February 2023 and runs through July 2025, due to health concerns.
According to the Associated Press, Scialfa stated in the documentary that “touring has become a challenge for me.” My immune system is impacted by this.
Due to illness, Bruce Springsteen cancels the concert hours before it starts.
“Every now and then, I go to a show or two where I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat,” the guitarist continued. Right now, it’s my new normal, and I’m good with that.
