KARACHI: According to the Pakistan Boat Rally and Fishing Association (PBRFA), a whale shark—a rare species of fish—was seen close to Karachi’s Charna Island on Monday. This information was provided to News.
Using an underwater camera, PBRFA members filmed videos of the whale shark while swimming with it for almost twenty minutes.
Around Charna Island, the depth ranges from 20 to 60 feet, making it a haven for aquatic species.
According to a handout from the PBRFA, whales and whale sharks frequently come to this area in search of food, particularly in the winter or after the monsoon season when the Hub River carries minerals from the highlands into the sea, improving the waters.
Ahmed Mamoor Amimi, President of PBRFA, described the sighting as a “gift.”
