After a family vacation to Morocco around Christmas 2022, Mr. Matheson sent the taxpayer an eye-watering invoice, which made headlines last year.
He spent almost £11,000 on roaming fees for the parliamentary iPad, not phone calls.
Initially, the Falkirk West MSP stated that the trip’s expenses were incurred because of an out-of-date SIM card while conducting constituent work.
It was later learned that Mr. Matheson’s teenage boys, who had used the iPad as a hotspot to watch football while traveling, were responsible for the expenses, even though he had agreed to reimburse the amount out of his own pocket.
Before the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body’s investigation was finished earlier on Thursday, Mr. Matheson said he was resigning as health secretary (SPCB).
