LAHORE: Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), declared on Sunday that wicket-keeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan would be the new captain of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket teams.
The change occurred after Babar Azam announced his intention to “prioritize my performance, enjoy batting, and spend quality time with family” when he resigned as white-ball team captain on October 2.
A three-match one-day international (ODI) and Twenty20 international (T20I) series against Australia will be Rizwan’s first task as captain, starting on November 4.
Additionally, Naqvi declared that Salman Ali Agha, a spin-all-rounder, has been appointed the Pakistan cricket team’s vice-captain.
According to a press release from the cricket governing body, Agha will captain Zimbabwe’s T20I team while Rizwan takes a break as part of a workload management strategy.
