Bellamy became the first Wales manager to win two of his first four games and avoid defeat with Monday’s 1-0 triumph over Montenegro.
In Cardiff, he made seven changes to his squad, some of which were imposed by suspension and injury, and some of which were motivated by his wish to try new things and weigh his choices before World Cup qualifying begins in March.
“We need a big squad,” Bellamy announced. “The Nations League is fantastic; it’s fiercely competitive and lets you use your team.
“There were many benefits to that. Some players performed exceptionally well.
Undoubtedly, having a squad increases your chances of making it to a major competition.
“You play Friday, you play Monday; the games go by so fast. We must make the greatest use of our team in order to increase our chances of qualifying for a major tournament because it actually works for the larger countries with larger squads.
