Following discussions with the president of the United Arab Emirates on a range of subjects, including the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the increasing instability in the Middle East, US President Joe Biden on Monday designated the UAE as one of his key defense allies.
The United States and India are the only two nations to have received this status, which enables close military collaboration through cooperative training, exercises, and other endeavors.
In a statement following their meeting, Presidents Biden and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates and Israel urged for “urgent, unhindered” humanitarian relief delivery to Gaza and reaffirmed their commitment to a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
