The California state government has long-term plans to build a high-speed rail system from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
The line is still a long way off and is estimated to cost over $100 billion in total, even though the first funding was approved back in 2008.
Only the first phase’s development has started thus far, and more funds have been allocated for the Phase I System’s environmental planning.
But the California High-Speed Rail Authority just made public a portion of the construction project that was completed in 2018 and is said to have cost $1 billion in total.
