Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly described the deaths of scores of Palestinians waiting for a relief convoy in Gaza as “a nightmare” and urged for an end to conflict in the region.
According to Gaza health officials, Israeli soldiers shot and killed more than 100 Palestinians. Israel questioned the death toll.
“When it comes to what happened in Gaza today… I must say I think this is a nightmare,” Joly said to reporters in Ottawa. “We need to make sure that international aid is sent into Gaza and that people are protected when they go and get that aid.”
