According to news, an elephant in Thailand gave birth to twins that confused her caregivers, who were only aware of her pregnancy and were unaware of the pair inside.
Last Monday, Chamchuri, the 36-year-old animal, gave birth to another little girl after releasing a male for a few minutes.
The site claims that the second birth similarly surprised Chamchuri, who became so scared that caregivers had to restrain her to prevent her from stepping on the calf.
One of the thirty-one-year-old caregivers sustained injuries while exercising control.
In spite of having a shattered leg, he “was so happy”. “I couldn’t feel the pain,” he remarked.
However, He didn’t until he realized how serious the wound was.
The injured nanny was cited as saying, “It’s normal that the new mother will always try to kick or push the baby.”
“…I was afraid that she might break the baby elephant, so I put myself forward and tried to block the mother from the smaller one.”
The report also referenced Ian Douglas-Hamilton, the founder of Save the Elephants, who stated that “male-female twins are even rarer than twins in elephant populations.”
