An apparent “self-inflicted” gunshot wound claimed John Barnett’s life on Saturday, a coroner in South Carolina told the news.
Before retiring in 2017, the 62-year-old worked at Boeing for 30 years as a quality manager.
In the days preceding his passing, Mr. Barnett was providing testimony in a whistleblower action against the corporation, according to the news, which broke the story of his passing.
According to Mr. Barnett’s 2019 statement to the news, up to 25% of the oxygen systems may be malfunctioning and may not function in an emergency.
Additionally, he stated that on one production line, when safety was compromised due to a hurried assembly process, defective parts were purposefully installed on planes.
