South Wales politicians and citizens have criticized what they claim was inadequate planning and warning for Storm Bert, which resulted in catastrophic flooding.
Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) council leader Andrew Morgan expressed his “amazed” response to the Met Office’s decision to issue a yellow weather warning, stating that he still believes the Met Office ought to have issued an amber or red one instead.
The timing of the warnings was also criticized by Plaid Cymru, MS for South Wales Central, Heledd Fychan, and Sir Chris Bryant, MP for Rhondda and Ogmore.
However, First Minister Eluned Morgan cautioned that it is impossible to protect certain Welsh properties from flooding due to climate change.
