ISLAMABAD: In the “security breach” case, prominent human rights attorney Imaan Mazari and her husband, barrister Haadi Ali Chatha, were freed from custody just hours after an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted them bail.
After the three-day physical remand issued by ATC on Tuesday was overturned by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), ATC Judge Tahir Abbas granted bail against a Rs20,000 surety bond.
Additionally, it mandated that the two be placed on judicial remand for 14 days.
Mazari and Chatha were represented in court by attorneys Qaiser Imam and Zainab Janjua, and IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz heard the request against the couple’s physical remand.
The prosecutor read the court order and made the remand request during the hearings.
